Who runs this site

SceneProbe is an independent editorial desk publishing at sceneprobe.com. It is the controller for any personal data described here, within the meaning of the General Data Protection Regulation (Regulation (EU) 2016/679) and the Data Protection Act 2018. You can reach the desk at notes@sceneprobe.com.

What this site collects from you

Nothing through the page itself. There is no form here, no field to fill in, no account, no sign-up and no newsletter. Nothing you type in your browser is sent to us, because there is nowhere on the site to type it.

Hosting and content delivery

The site is a set of static files served by our hosting provider and delivered through Cloudflare, Inc. as a content network. Like any web server, they process technical connection data in order to answer a request:

  • the IP address the request came from, and the country derived from it;
  • date and time of the request and the address requested;
  • the referring address, if your browser sent one;
  • browser and device type as reported in the user agent string.

Cloudflare may additionally insert a measurement script of its own into pages it delivers. That script reports the page address, the referrer, page-loading measurements, browser and device type and the country derived from the IP address. It sets no cookies and builds no profile across other sites. It is added at the network level rather than written into our pages, so it is described here as a matter of fact.

The legal basis for all of the above is our legitimate interest in delivering the site reliably and securely, Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. Cloudflare and our hosting provider act as processors on our behalf, and any transfer outside the European Economic Area is covered by the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses.

What is stored on your device

One value, held in your browser’s local storage under the key sp:consent, and written only after you answer the notice at the foot of the screen. It records that answer and nothing else. It is never transmitted to us or to anyone else. The full description is in Cookies and storage.

If you email the desk

Writing to notes@sceneprobe.com sends your message through your own mail provider to our mailbox. We then hold your address and whatever you chose to write, for as long as it takes to deal with the matter and a reasonable period afterwards for our records. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in answering correspondence, Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. Nothing from the page is attached to that message.

Who else sees any of this

No advertising network, no data broker and no analytics service of ours, because we run none. There is no audience measurement built into these pages and nothing about you is sold, rented or shared. The only parties involved are the hosting provider and Cloudflare, in the roles described above.

How long anything is kept

Server logs are held by the hosting provider for a short period for security and diagnostics, then discarded. Email is held as described above. The stored value stays on your own device until you clear your browser data, at which point the notice appears again.

Your rights

Under the GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018 you may ask for access to your personal data, its correction or erasure, restriction of processing, portability, and you may object to processing based on legitimate interests. Write to the desk and we will deal with the request. Please note that the site holds no account and no identifier for you, so in most cases there is simply nothing on our side that can be linked to you.

Complaints

If you believe your data has been handled improperly you may complain to the Data Protection Commission, 21 Fitzwilliam Square South, Dublin 2, D02 RD28, Ireland, or through www.dataprotection.ie.

Age

This is a general-audience publication about games and it is not directed at children. The age of digital consent in Ireland is 16. Since the site collects nothing through the page, no personal data of readers of any age is gathered here.

Changes to this notice

Any change is published on this page and the date at the top is updated with it. There is no mailing list to inform, so the date is the record.
